Killed by LAPD in Venice: May 5, 2015
“Less than 16 hours after the deadly encounter, Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck stood before reporters and said he was ‘very concerned’ about the shooting, which was recorded by a security camera. ‘Any time an unarmed person is shot by a Los Angeles police officer, it takes extraordinary circumstances to justify that,’ Beck said. ‘I have not seen those extraordinary circumstances in this case.’” —LA Times, May 6, 2015

Killed by LAPD in Venice: July 13, 2015
Sunday, 8/9/15, the day after this rally is the 1-year anniversary of the
killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Tuesday, 8/11/15 will
mark one year since the LAPD’s killing of Ezell Ford on 85th Street in
South Central Los Angeles.

“What Trickles Down, What Accumulates”
Frogtown: WCCW 2425 Glover Place, Los Angeles, CA
What Trickles Down, What Accumulates: Frogtown will bring conscious artists in conversation with
community organizers to examine issues of structural injustice. It will feature an installation of the
Youth Justice Coalition’s “City of Lost Angels” Memorial and an album pre-release listening of
WHAT’S WORKING IS BROKEN, an immersive audio piece that includes personal testimonials of police violence. Performance, audio and visual artwork by Karen Atkinson, Jesse Bliss, Johanna Breiding, Malik
Brock, Veronique d’Entremont, Derrick Maddox, North East Los Angeles Alliance, Heather M. O’brien,
Amitis Motevalli, Jimena Sarno, will be shown, with presentations by S.T.A.Y. (Standing Together
Advocating for our Youth) and Union de Vecinos/LA Tenants Union.
WHAT’S WORKING IS BROKEN
is an audio piece that integrates radio journalism, music and personal stories of police violence,
recorded during organizing and protests over the oast year to expose and challenge law enforcement
violence in Los Angeles.
Sales from the album will go to support the work of the Youth Justice Coalition.
