Funeral Saturday to Honor Charly “Africa” Keunang
Killed by the Los Angeles Police Department on March 1st
May 16th, 2015, 3pm at Holman United Methodist Church
3320 W Adams Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90018
LAPD officers claimed they were called to the sidewalk on San Pedro Street because Keunang was allegedly in an altercation with another person near where Keunang was staying in a tent. As seen in video footage and backed up by several witnesses, Keunang seemed to be fearful and panicked when at least 5 police officers approached him aggressively. He was wrestled to the ground – face down – and at least two of the officers were leaning on him. One officer claimed he reached up from where he was forced down onto the sidewalk – face down – “attempting to take” the officer’s gun. The officer opened fire, killing Keunang. Keunang was unarmed.
