Organizing
Organizing to end systems of punishment and build community power.
We are system survivors reclaiming our power and building a world without cages, courts, or control.
At YJC, we build our youth power-building base primarily through the LOBOS organizing team and the YJC staff.
LOBOS (Leading Our Beloveds Out of the System) has always been system-impacted Black and Brown and working-class youth fighting for the liberation of other system-impacted young people. LOBOS are paid to lead the organization in campaign design and implementation; they also facilitate know-your-rights workshops for the community. We work in tandem with coalition partners to fight for youth justice, speak truth to power, and allocate resources toward youth development and care in LA County.
Join us in our demand to urgently release the girls and gender-expansive youth still locked up in LA County’s failing juvenile system. Many of these young people are survivors of abuse and incarceration only deepens their trauma.
Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall is unsafe and unfit to house any young person. From overdoses to abuse, the facility continues to cause irreparable harm while draining public resources. It’s time to shut it down and invest in real alternatives that support healing, not punishment.
Stay connected with the movement to shut down youth jails and build community power. By joining our email list, you’ll get updates from LOBOS organizers, ways to take action, and invites to direct actions and events. Tap in and be part of the fight for youth liberation.
Your donation fuels youth-led organizing to end incarceration and build a world rooted in care, not cages. Every dollar helps us train leaders, host direct actions, and create real alternatives to punishment.
